Parent approved and my personal favorite channels that provide both fun and educational content to keep your kids entertained

Let’s face it, children today are spending a lot of time online whether they are watching videos, chatting with friends or playing games. I’m not embarrassed to admit that I’ve handed my child a tablet and put on YouTube to keep them quiet and entertained so I could get some work done. It’s something we’ve all done and theres no shame in it. But as I’ve learned, not all YouTube channels provide child friendly content thats educational and fun. Even in the YouTube Kids app. So if you’re like me and not sure what to put on for your child that helps them learn and is enjoyable then have no fear because I put together a list of my 5 favorite channels for my children to watch.

  1. Bella’sBooks

While this is the smallest channel on this list, its my number 1 because it involves my favorite activity. Reading. Reading books to children has been proven as an extremely important activity for their development. It helps improve language skills, stimulate imagination, enhance their knowledge and social skills. It also helps children expand their knowledge of the world and find characters to associate with. Books can not only teach children about the world but also about math, science, animals, friendship and thousands of other things. But, as a busy parent I don’t always have the time to read to my children. Thats why I love this YouTube channel. This channel post book read aloud videos of lots of different children’s books. It makes my life easier because I can put on a playlist of videos and have my children read to, while I can finish one of the million things on my to do list. For me, this is definitely a better option then having my children watch one of the many videos on toys which leaves them just wanting more things to play with. These videos provide educational content while keeping them entertained.

2. PBS Kids

Growing up, this was one of the few TV channels my mom let me and my siblings watch. We were only allowed to watch it because the shows were educational. Thats why I let my children watch these. They have different content for different ages and lots of fun videos that keep my children entertained for hours. Plus, they teach skills such as sharing, how to make friends and how to solve math problems. These videos help my children explore the world so I don’t feel guilty about putting them on.

3. Toddle Fun Learning

This is a great one for younger children. This channel has lots of animated videos that are colorful, fun and educational. They are designed to teach toddlers about colors, numbers and letters all while having fun. I love animated videos for my young children because they find talking cars and buses entertaining and they love them. This channel keeps my children smiling and laughing for hours. Definitely one to add to your list if you have toddlers.

4. Highlights Kids

This channel is good for your older children. I loved getting Highlights magazine when I was younger and these videos contain the same content in the magazines just brought to life. These videos teach life lessons, share stories and bring children on virtual field trips. This is a great option for any curious little explorers out there!

5. Little Treehouse Nursery Rhymes and Kids Songs

I mentioned before how I love animated videos for the younger children and this channel is all animated videos which is why I love it. Plus, it’s filled with fun songs for little children to sing along to. It teaches life lessons and skills through song. It’s similar to Cocomelon. It can get annoying when your children start singing the same song over and over but, it’s a fun channel that makes them get up and dance so its worth it. The songs are even great to play for babies.
